RAJPURA/PATIALA: The murder of young girl in Surrey has shocked entire town. The parents of deceased Ravinder Kaur stay in Dalima Vihar of the city and were expecting a visit from their daughter in coming months. But a phone call by a friend of deceased, on Friday, shattered all hopes of ever seeing her alive. She narrated the ghastly tale of her murder to her father Balvir Singh on phone.
Family members have alleged that her husband was demanding dowry and including a share from their agricultural land, but when they did not fulfill their demand, they first threw the daughter out of their house and finally killed her.
"We did not expect that out failure in fulfilling their dowry demand will cost our daughter her life. Her killer Sunny Bhangu and his parents should be sentenced to death," demanded the father of deceased.
As per official release of Surrey police (copy with TOI) accused Sunny Bhangu allegedly attacked the victim in a business complex located in the 8100 block of 128th Avenue Surrey. Police nabbed her husband from spot. During preliminary investigations it came to light that the suspect and victim had been married since 2008.
Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been deployed and is now leading the investigation with assistance from Surrey RCMP and Lower Mainland District Forensic Identification Unit. "She completed her graduation from local Patel College and got married on December 24, 2008. She went with her husband Sunny to Surrey in 2008," said a neighbour, without disclosing identity.
Some other neighbours said the family has been under stress for many months after the in-laws of their daughter started making threatening calls to them for dowry. The mother of deceased has been unwell from many months.
"We have not received any formal information about the timing of arrival of body of my daughter. We request Union government for help to bring the body at the earliest," said the father of deceased.
